...walk
in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been
called.... (Ephesians 4:1 NASB)
Foundations
of Love and Hope is dedicated to this verse. Five
years ago, I was working on a similar project. I had a
good start, a major literacy agency interested, and was
feeling great. Suddenly, doors began to be shut in my
face and I almost loss my ability to walk. I was hit
with a major attack in what turned out to be Multiple
Sclerosis.
I have spent the
last five years obsessed about the first part of the verse,
but neglected the heart of this passage. Now, though I fight
each day to walk, I consider myself blessed that I can walk
at all. After a sermon from my beloved pastor, I began
to realize I need to concentrate on my calling rather
than what
challenges I may face. God started opening doors and
nudging me to reopen the pursuit of this labor of love.
Thus, this website ...
As for my qualifications, I have been uniquely blessed. My work in the literary world has been read
worldwide over the past ten years. Over twenty-one million
copies of my short stories have been published in ten
languages around the world. Among my blessings:
v
Seven stories
in the popular Chicken Soup for the Soul
series including two #1 New York Times Bestsellers:
The 2nd Chicken Soup for the Women’s Soul
and The 1st Chicken Soup for the Golfer’s Soul.
My seven story total is the most by any
author in the entire Chicken Soup
collection.

v
Stories
in two of the Christian short story collections, Stories for the Heart by Alice Gray. “The
Friendship Tree” appeared in Stories for a Man’s
Heart and Stories for a Teen’s Heart. Alice
remains a mentor and I consider her a dear friend.
v
“The Friendship
Tree” was also reprinted in a 2008 edition in the
widely-popular Reader’s Digest. Also,
the state of California declared it an American Classic and
placed it on their No Child Left Behind graduation test.
v
Over thirty
stories have appeared in Christian magazines such as
HomeLife, Standard, Whispers from Heaven, The Plain Truth, and Purpose.
v
“The
Not-So-White Christmas Gift” was reprinted in one of
Canada’s largest Christian newspapers, The Living
Light News and has been considered for adaptation to
television.
Not just a creative writer, I have written SEO website content
for a number of Internet companies. Recognized
nationally as an expert on business writing techniques, I
have
conducted seminars throughout the country. As a
ghost writer, I have written two popular books on the
history of Christian Hymns and a chapbook collection of poems.
In 1982-1985, I co-authored a series of high school debate
research books entitled Extensions released by Podium
Research Associates nationwide. As a public speaker in
high school and college, I won three state championships and
one national debate title at the University of Notre Dame in
1976. In 2000, I was one of twelve writers that wrote column
entries for
The Boy's Bible, published by Zondervan.
Besides the
first four books, I one day plan on a book on Multiple
Sclerosis in which I will share my daily struggles along
with my hope for tomorrow.
Associate Editors
Helping
on Foundations of Love and Hope, we have a crack
staff of assistants that serve special tasks. Brad is an
award-winning film director and a sophomore Journalism
major. He served on his college newspaper at Austin
Peay State University last year, having his first article
published on the front page. Recently, he was on a
missionary team to Tanzania, Africa. His job with us
is to serve as the voice to those that feel they have no
voice.

Kristina is a very important voice with us, serving as the
liason on behalf of youth. She edits the stories from
children and teenagers and works to see that their stories
are heard.
Her passion is
creative writing and will enter college as an English major.
Her job with us is to help other young writers to express
their stories. Who would be a better editor for youth
than a young person themselves?
But, I am
saving the best for last. Nothing in my life would
mean anything without my chief proofreader, Lucretia.
God blessed me with a wonderful partner in life for the over
twenty-five years. How was I to know that one day God
would call me to be a writer and editor? And how was I
to know that she was the world's best proofreader? I
have had editors remark to me how clean and error-free my
writing would come to them. It's the same as all
things in my life. It's all because of you, Lucretia!
